The 2025 Oscars nominations are officially in, bringing a mix of surprises and notable snubs. The announcement was delayed due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, but the 97th Academy Awards will proceed as planned in the first week of March.

The voting delay pushed the nominations back to January 17, making them later than usual. Despite this, excitement remains high, though the Golden Globes usually provide a good indication of potential Oscar nominees for key categories such as Best Actor, Actress, and Supporting categories—this year, however, there were some unexpected exclusions.

Among the most notable absentees are Angelina Jolie (for Maria), Nicole Kidman (for Babygirl), and Pamela Anderson (for The Last Showgirl), all of whom were anticipated to receive Oscar nominations after their recognition at the Golden Globes. However, the Academy had other plans.
